Materials & Construction Standards
Built to Last
We build with marine-grade materials and standards that withstand salt, storms, and time.
What we build with and
why it matters
The right materials determine whether your dock lasts five years or fifty. We select every component for saltwater resilience, not cost cutting. Marine-grade construction means your investment survives what the coast throws at it.
Marine-Grade and Low Maintenance Surfaces
Built for waterfront conditions, Bay & Key uses durable decking options such as IPE wood and high-performance composite materials. These surfaces are selected for their resistance to moisture, salt exposure, wear, and long-term use in coastal environments.
Composite Pilings
For enhanced longevity and performance, Bay & Key uses synthetic pilings designed to withstand harsh marine conditions. Unlike traditional wood, synthetic pilings resist rot, marine borers, and deterioration, helping create a stronger foundation with less maintenance over time.
Stainless Steel Hardware and Fasteners
Resists corrosion in saltwater environments where standard fasteners fail within years. Stainless steel hardware helps protect the integrity of the structure and supports long-term performance in coastal conditions.
Engineering
Built for the salt and the storms
A dock survives or it doesn’t. We engineer ours to last through hurricanes, salt spray, and decades of use. Every connection matters. Every material choice matters.
- Reinforced pilings and deep foundation work
- Hurricane-rated structural design and load capacity
- Storm-tested anchoring and lateral bracing systems
Resilience
Designed to withstand
Florida storm conditions
We don’t build docks that fail in storms. Our designs account for wind load, surge, and wave action. When a hurricane passes, your dock stands.
- Wind-resistant structural geometry and bracing
- Surge and wave impact engineering standards
- Post-storm inspection and reinforcement protocols
How We Build
and why it matters
Code compliance is the minimum. We exceed it. Our crews follow strict protocols that ensure every dock meets safety standards and performs when tested.
Local and state code compliance with inspections
Every installation follows engineering specifications and safety protocols verified by our crews.
Precision installation and quality control checks
Our employee teams perform final inspections before handoff to catch what others miss.
Documented construction records and warranty documentation
Complete project records provide proof of materials, methods, and compliance for insurance and resale.
Longevity
Materials that outlast the investment
Marine-grade construction means your dock doesn’t degrade in five years. It means thirty years of use without major repairs. That’s the difference between a cost and an investment.
Simplicity
Built to require less work over time
Composite decking doesn’t splinter or warp. Stainless hardware doesn’t corrode. You spend weekends using your dock, not maintaining it.
Warranty
We stand behind what we build
Our hurricane warranty covers structural damage from storms. We don’t make promises we can’t keep. This warranty exists because we build with materials and methods that hold.
The Voices Of The Coast
A collection of shared experiences from those who have realized their vision with Bay & Key.
“The quality, the process, and the follow-through were phenomenal. From permitting all the way through delivery, they made everything seamless. Even after major storms put our dock underwater, the craftsmanship held up beautifully — and the team still came out afterward to help clean, restore, and secure everything. That level of care is rare.”
- Jeff Jackson, Customer, Bird Key ,Sarasota, FL
“I live on an open bay, so our dock takes a beating from waves, storms, and heavy boat traffic. Since rebuilding with Bay & Key, the dock has been solid as a rock. The quality of materials, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design improvements gave us a level of confidence and security we didn’t have before.”
“Go look at their workmanship — it speaks for itself.”
- Lou DiNardo, Customer, Bird Key ,Sarasota, FL
“From the very first meeting that I had with Jim and Stewart and the team over at Bay and Key, it was clear what was important to them. They have a very high standard for quality, and it was apparent that there was going to be an easy alignment that occurred between Bay and Key and Trinity. To both of our teams, it’s very important to us that not only are we delighting our clients, but that we’re putting out the highest quality product possible.”
- Jesse Cocozza,Vice President of Trinity Custom Homes
“If anyone was hesitant in any way, I would say look at a Bay and Key dock as an investment. That is going to be the superior choice, especially over time. Buy quality, buy something that’s going to last, that’s going to look great, that’s going to be supported by a great company.”
- David LeLand, Customer, Sarasota, FL
“They really helped me have my vision come to fruition and made sure I had everything that I wanted. All the ideas that I had in my head, they were able to get out on paper, and draft it up for me to walk through it. They use high quality technology and state of the art architectural drawings to help me envision it. I felt very confident about what I was agreeing to, what I was signing up for, and they definitely delivered”
